The 4th Annual Philadelphia Jazz Summit, with a theme of “awakening,” plans two days of gathering the jazz industry — from musicians, educators and industry professionals to jazz lovers — Nov. 5–6.
Organizers aspire to deliver a holistic approach to personal and professional development through collective learning, healing and sharing during pandemic times.
From a macro vantage point, the event plans to look as the legacy of jazz as a historically Black art form now practiced around the world, then drill down to focus on nuts-and-bolts business from a pandemic-informed perspective.
Speakers for the event include musicians Victor Wooten, René Marie, Gerald Veasley, Sherrie Maricle, Shirazette Tinnin, Luke Carlos O’Reilly and Lauren Talese, and jazz historian and author Ashley Kahn.
