MMW To Release Children's Disc In November

I   Medeski Martin & Wood plans to release an album of children's music later this year, entitled Let's Go Everywhere.

The disc, which drummer Billy Martin called "my favorite MMW record to date," will appear under Little Monster Records, a label focused on music for kids. It will include some songs that feature singing from band members' own children.

The album comes in the midst of an active year for Martin, including a recording project with his new experimental quartet, IOOi, and an upcoming exhibition of his paintings at the Morrison Gallery in Kent, Conn. “It was just that suddenly … I could hear it,” Ravi Coltrane said of an epiphany he experienced during his late teens regarding his father’s music. “And it was almost like a calling, like something saying, ‘Hey, man, come on. It’s time to get serious.’ And the first time you really tune in and dial in and focus like that, it can be very life-changing.”
