Prospective students must have played an instrument for at least a year, be entering grades 6–8 for the 2008–’09 school year, attend a school or live in one of New York City's five boroughs along with other conditions.
Each year JALC selects 15 students from all five boroughs of New York City, in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades to be a part of MSJA. Each student is awarded a full tuition scholarship, based on application, audition and family interview, that provides intensive jazz instruction throughout the school year. The MSJA faculty, led by Director Eli Yamin, is comprised of musicians deeply committed to teaching and mentoring today’s youth through innovative and effective methods.
