Jarrett Plans Solo Return To Carnegie Hall

I   Keith Jarrett returns to New York's Carnegie Hall on Jan. 29, 2009, for a rare solo piano concert featuring an entire evening of solo piano improvisations.

This will be only the second solo concert Jarrett has performed in North America in over 30 years, the first being in September 2005, which was recorded and released as a two-CD set on ECM.

“It was just that suddenly … I could hear it,” Ravi Coltrane said of an epiphany he experienced during his late teens regarding his father’s music. “And it was almost like a calling, like something saying, ‘Hey, man, come on. It’s time to get serious.’ And the first time you really tune in and dial in and focus like that, it can be very life-changing.”
