Iridium Will Celebrate Les Paul’s 91st

I   Jazz guitar innovator Les Paul will celebrate his 91st birthday at New York’s Iridium on June 12.

Les Paul will perform at 8:30 and 10:30 with his regular working band of guitarist Lou Pallo, bassist Nicky Parrott and pianist John Colliani. As with his usual gigs, some of Les Paul's big name disciples will probably sit in.

“It was just that suddenly … I could hear it,” Ravi Coltrane said of an epiphany he experienced during his late teens regarding his father’s music. “And it was almost like a calling, like something saying, ‘Hey, man, come on. It’s time to get serious.’ And the first time you really tune in and dial in and focus like that, it can be very life-changing.”
