Alligator Records To Release New Tinsley Ellis CD

I   Alligator Records has set a June 26 release date for the new CD from guitarist/vocalist Tinsley Ellis, Moment Of Truth.

Born in Atlanta in 1957, Ellis grew up in southern Florida and first played guitar at age eight. He found the blues through the backdoor of the British Invasion bands like The Yardbirds, The Animals, Cream, and The Rolling Stones. His love for the blues solidified when he was 14 at a B.B. King performance, where sat mesmerized in the front row. When King broke a string onhis guitar, he changed it without missing a beat and handed the broken string to Ellis.

Produced by Ellis, Moment Of Truth will be the first release from Ellis since 2005's Live—Highwayman.

“It was just that suddenly … I could hear it,” Ravi Coltrane said of an epiphany he experienced during his late teens regarding his father’s music. “And it was almost like a calling, like something saying, ‘Hey, man, come on. It’s time to get serious.’ And the first time you really tune in and dial in and focus like that, it can be very life-changing.”
